Tomorrow's living and working environment

The living and working world of tomorrow is facing dynamic changes that are characterized by technological innovations, demographic developments and social trends. As a charitable foundation, we see the need to tackle these changes proactively in order to help shape a positive future. Our program aims to prepare young people in particular for the challenges and opportunities associated with the changing world of work and life.

Actively shaping the living and working environment of tomorrow is not only an economic necessity, but also our social responsibility. Through our education initiatives, we want to help promote educational equality and strengthen the cohesion of our society. We also want to contribute to a sustainable working world by counteracting the shortage of skilled workers and supporting talent development and lifelong learning.

Future technologies are advanced technological developments that have the potential to sustainably change and improve our way of life, economy and society. With our projects, we want to get our participants excited about future technologies and enable them to understand, reflect on and apply them . We therefore always look at future technologies from three perspectives:

  1. Technological perspective (How does it work?),

  2. Socio-cultural perspective (How does it work?) and

  3. Application-related perspective (How do I use this?).

Research-based learning and career guidance are important components of the program area. Participants are expected to relate future technologies in particular to the question "How will I live and work tomorrow?".

Future competencies, or future skills, are abilities that will be of central importance in the future world of work. They encompass both technological and non-technological skills and are crucial for the adaptability and success of individuals in a changing world. In this program area, we want to raise participants' awareness of future key competencies and specifically promote their skills in this area. We empower young people and encourage reflection on the question "How will I work tomorrow?". We pay particular attention to the following cognitive, technological, social and self-efficacy skills: analytical thinking; creative thinking; resilience, flexibility and agility; motivation and self-efficacy; curiosity; technological literacy; empathy; teamwork and leadership.

Visions of the future are ideas about how our society could develop in the coming years and decades. They are an expression of possible or desired futures and can inspire people to drive forward new ideas or initiate change. We would like to invite young people in particular to engage with futurology techniques, the foundations of our social interaction and the question "How will I live tomorrow?". With our commitment, we support participation and democracy education in Germany.

The cross-program focus will be on artificial intelligence. AI currently has the potential to shape our living and working environment of tomorrow like no other technology. Furthermore, technology and media skills are to be promoted as key skills across all programs. We want our participants to be able to use a wide range of technologies and media content safely and responsibly so that they can navigate the analog and digital world as active, self-confident citizens.

In our educational projects, we focus specifically on foreseeable futures, i.e. a time frame of around five to ten years. In particular, we focus on holistic, interdisciplinary solutions for the diverse challenges of tomorrow's living and working environment.
