Supporting young people in helping to shape improved hygiene services and standards in their countries of origin.
Since autumn 2017, the Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation has been supporting the research and teaching field of health sciences in accordance with the global political objectives with the study program "Master of Science in Global Health Risk Management and Hygiene Policies" at the Rhenish Friedrich Wilhelm University of Bonn. Our support comprises an endowed professorship with the corresponding personnel and material resources as well as the support of the study program as a whole: Through this support, students particularly from so-called low- and lower middle-income countries can enjoy financial security – or even a full scholarship (including living and travel expenses) – as they complete the fee-based two-year post-graduate master program. Participants have medical or nursing science degrees and come predominantly from the above-mentioned developing countries. The English-language master program is application-oriented and characterized by excellent teaching as well as close, personal support. The Dr. Hans Riegel Foundation promotes the professorship and the study program as an application-oriented and highly topical field of research in medicine, which has been neglected for too long, including in Germany. Through the global reference and promotion of health science competence, the foundation supports young people in helping to shape improved hygiene services and standards in their countries of origin.
